Has it been that long since I've blogged?

Where has time gone? I've been really busy lately. Ok, enough of that, on to better things.

Have you joined RawFu yet? You must check out this community. Bunny Berry is so freakin' cool. I wonder if she knows that I'm her biggest fan. So freaking adorable, and funny!!! Check out her blog too.

I have some lentils and adzuki beans sprouting and I am trying again on broccoli sprouts. I will not give up!!

I've been doing well staying raw. I'm loving my green smoothies and I've been eating less nuts. I can't totally cut them out yet, I love them so much. I've just got to wean myself off a little at a time. I've been faithfully going to the gym also.

Today's food:

Pink Lady apple (yum)

Green salad with creamy delicious cashew dressing (not too much although I wanted to lick the plate!)

My last attempt at sprouting went very wrong. They were smelly. I'm new to this so I'm not sure if it's the weather or if I didn't drain them enough?? I'm not giving up though, I am determined to make this work. This time I am sprouting my broccoli and chia on damp papertowels. I read about this somewhere on the web. After one day they already have little tails. Hope this works better that the sprouting jar. I also have some sunflower seeds sprouting, can't wait to eat those.

For dinner I had kale salad. I never tire of it. I made spicy avo dressing. My son loved it too. Somehow I managed to save some for lunch tomorrow. I love that my kids eat pretty healthy. I don't push raw on them but the do eat veggies and whenever I have a big bowl of salad they always want some too. They drink lots of smoothies but I'd like to start sneaking greens into them.

Today's food:

Strawberry, blueberry and pineapple smoothie with a scoop of Trader Joe's Very Green

Kale Salad

Other: MSM, Bee Pollen, Omega 3 6 9, Spirulina, Coconut Oil

Before Raw

This is me and my daughter in 2006. I used to say I just had a baby and havent' lost the weight yet . Guess that doesn't work anymore when your baby is a teenager..

These are my boys. I love this pic. Even thought I was fat I thought I looked pretty good. Note to self, try as you might you cant' hide your fat behind your kids even when you pose a little bit sideways.

UGH! Fat. This is right before I went raw. I really don't want people to see this but once I looked at it I saw how far I've come. I am not going back here.

Ok, this me now. I have lost over 50 lbs so far. I still have a way to go but I know that raw is the way to go. I feel so healthy on raw. Thank you so much Jo from DiscoverRaw for getting me back on track! Check out her blog, she is a raw food coach and she's just adorable AND an inspiration. Make sure to check out her before and after pics and her Raw On A Shoestring Challenge.

Long time, no post.

I am back from vacation. Why does vacation fly by and work days drag... ??? I had a great time with my family and friends. It was fun to see my mother again, she's quite entertaining.

I've done well staying raw. Loving my smoothies every morning and I just bought some Maca and Hemp Seeds to add to them. I also bought some milk thistle seeds. I think I can just grind them and put them in a smoothie but I'll have to research that. I only bought a small amount but I hear they are good for cleansing the liver and I still have a touch of psoriasis but it is so much better because of the coconut oil.

I'm not sure if it's the weather or something else but I haven't been very hungry lately. I did also notice that at the gym I had so much energy today. I haven't been working out for about 2 weeks and have been losing weight. Hmmm... But I love working out and I'll have to see what happens now that I am working out again.

Off to make my lunch for tomorrow and watch some junky reality tv.

Today's food:

Blueberry, banana, chia seeds, maca, hemp seeds, water.
(soaked chia seeds in water to make a gel)

Lettuce wraps
Romaine leaves, watercress, sprouts, organic locally grown tomatoes, cucumber
dressing - zucchini, tahini, garlic, scallion, cumin, coriander, sea salt, lemon juice, water

Supplements/Other

I heart coconut oil

I've been reading up on the benefits of coconut oil. I am addicted to the stuff. I've used it on my skin at night after a bath and I wake up soooo soft! I put some in my hair and I've eaten it. It does seem to supress my appetite as I've not been so hungry the last few days. I've also lost a few pounds. YAY! That freakin scale has been stuck on fat for about 2 months.

My broccoli sprouts are starting to sprout a little. I can't wait to eat them. I love love love broccoli sprouts. I want to sprout some chia seeds next.

I bought a dehydrator. It's just a Nesco that I got at Wal-mart but if I want to stay raw I really feel I need to make some dehydrated crackers and things. Last night I made sweet potato chips and tonight I made some flax crackers. They are drying right now. The sweet potatoes were good but I need to add a little more salt. I want to dehydrate some apples and make apple chips to go on that yummy fuji apple salad I miss so much from Panera. Of course it won't have chicken or feta so I have to work out a recipe. I made the dressing last year and it was so good.

Andre called the other day and told me that Jamal is eating bananas. He loves organic bananas. I thought it was great that he only wants to feed the baby organic. Hmmm, am I rubbing off on my kid? I guess they were listening all this time.

Off to the gym. Cardio only today since I worked upper, lower and abs yesterday.

New Toys!!!

Ok, not really toys but today I bought broccoli sprout seeds and chia seeds! I am so excited. I'll soak the broccoli seeds tonight and I'll have sprouts in about 3 or 4 days. I also bought a sprouter. It's just a jar with a mesh lid which I could have made myself but I wanted the one at the store.

I'm going to to make tapioca pudding from the chia seeds. Tomorrow I'll add some to my smoothie and see how that works out. It's supposed to keep you pretty full and give you lots of energy.

Tonight I am making Emerald Kale Salad from the RFT thread. I love kale salad but I usually do mine with an avocado dressing but this one should be just as yummy.

Almost forgot, I also bought some hijiki and wakame from the Asian market down the street from the health food store I went to. Good Health Natural Foods in Quincy, MA is the best. I will be going there again for sure. The staff was really helpful too.

Ok, Gotta go play with my "new toys"

This morning I made my green smoothie. It wasn't my favorite. It was papaya, strawberry, orange and kale. I didn't like the taste so I added a banana. Still not great but I drank it. Lunch was better, salad with the dressing I made last night. I had an apple for a snack and for dinner I made a yummy kale salad with red peppers, tomato, onion and a dressing I whipped up from pine nuts, cumin, coriander and a dash of cayenne. It was good and I still have some for tomorrow's lunch. I also had some raw fudge that I made the other day.

I feel really good because I did not have my morning coffee or chai tea. Even though it's a hot day I still love my hot coffee. I did think about coffee and the taste and how it is warm and yummy but I resisted and made it through the whole day without it. I can't say I didn't miss it but I know it will only get easier from here.

My lentil sprouts are sprouting a little bit. I only started soaking them last night. I wonder if it's because it's been so hot here? Not sure but I can't wait to eat them.

Fresh Start

So I had my coaching session tonight. I learned a lot about myself. Jo is wonderful, so knowledgeable. She gave me some wonderful tips and I am motivated to get on the ball and do what I have to do to stay raw and release the rest of this weight.

Tomorrow I am not having my cup of coffee. I stopped drinking coffee when I first went raw so It shouldn't be too hard. I had one cup one day and that was it, I slowly added back my daily habit. I also have to stop drinking chai tea with soy milk. I love that more than coffee bug I have lots of different green teas. I'll start making them iced as it's been so hot lately.

I have my lunch ready for tomorrow. I have a big veggie salad and some yummy dressing I made tonight from cashews, cumin, tahini and garlic. I also have some fruit and in a few I will get my green smoothie together for the morning. I am going to put it all in the Magic Bullet and just blend it in the morning.

I feel so motivated right now! I can't wait to start the day tomorrow.

Lucky Me!

I was chosen by Jo at DiscoverRaw.com for the free coaching sessions. I can't tell you how excited I am and how much I need this. I am commited to being high raw and I know this will get me back on track.

If you have not read Jo's blog I recommend you do it now! She is currently doing a "Raw on a shoestring" challenge. I think it's something we should all try at some point. Everyone thinks eating healthy is expensive but it really doesnt' have to be.

I will be tracking my progress here to keep myself accountable. Stay tuned...
